Hello, my name is Dor Gidon Amran and I am an Israeli Classical Mandolinist, Conductor & Pianist. Welcome to my website! Here you can find information about my work, upcoming concerts, and how to get in touch with me. Thank you for your interest and support in my musical journey

MANDOLIN

Dor is a Classical Mandolin player who has won many competitions in Israel in various genres like contemporary music, and chamber music in the plucked instruments category. In May 2024, he won the 2nd prize at the International Mandolin Competition in Modena, Italy. He regularly performs as a soloist with symphonic orchestras and gives solo recitals all over the world. In 2024, Dor recorded Paganini’s 24 Violin Caprices on the mandolin for the Italian label “Dynamic” and went ahead to perform them all at “Genova Paganini Festival 2024”.

CONDUCTOR

Dor is a young conductor who has already gained significant experience working as an assistant conductor in four productions with the Israeli Opera and in two productions with the Jerusalem Academy, working alongside world renowned conductors. In addition to that, Dor participated in many Masterclasses with orchestras in Israel, Italy, Serbia and Czech. Currently, he is a teaching assistant and the music director for the Campus Orchestra at Penn State University.

PIANIST

As a pianist, Dor gained his experience while working as an accompanist for voice lessons at the Jerusalem Academy, The Israeli Opera, and for various vocal ensembles. He also continues to be a pianist for the Meitar Studio Opera in Israel. Dor has also performed as a pianist in many duos consisting of various instruments.

NEWS

In June 2024, recorded Paganini’s 24 Caprices for Solo Violin under the Italian label “Dynamic”. This was the first time in the world that the 24 Caprices were recorded on a mandolin.
